We believe it’s our primary role to look after the health of your eyes. We constantly update our equipment to avail of the advances in technology that allow us to offer a high standard of care to you. The very recent acquisition of our new Digital Fundus Camera continues this.
The digital fundus camera is a specialised low power microscope with a camera that allows us to take a photo of the back of your eye. It captures the interior surface of the eye allowing viewing of the retina, optic disc, macula and fundus.
Eye conditions may develop without you noticing a deterioration in your vision. Diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetes as well as other health problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be detected using the fundus camera. It allows documentation, comparison and diagnosing of these conditions by keeping a permanent record of the fundus. This means that small changes may be picked up earlier than the normal method of looking into your eye with the light.
The photos are quick, easy and painless. It’s just a brief flash of light and best of all no drops are needed.
